Was reading !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and noticed this line (emphasis mine):
The company’s use of the golden ratio in its designs and engineering make for the most visually striking cars ever made...
I’d never heard of such a thing, so I Googled it. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
PERFECTLY PROPORTIONED
Every inch of DB9's form is designed for elegance and balance. The simple beauty of nature guides the design of DB9, with the ‘ golden ratio ’ setting all proportions. The result is a profile where every line, dimension and proportion works in harmony. Combine this with the near perfect weight distribution, provided by a lower engine placement, and you have a DB9 balanced on sight and in experience.
ETA: By ‘it’s legit’, I mean that Aston Martin actually markets their products this way, it’s not some weird thing cooked up by the Internet. Whether or not that’s actually how the design process goes is anyone’s guess, but to me these images look mostly like a bunch of stuff slapped on top of a product after the fact for marketing purposes.

It’s a thing! There’s a popular argument that it’s based off human proportions, which is (supposedly) why it looks good to our eyes. Le Corbusier’s Modulor represents it best.

I don’t know, sounds like marketing speak to me.

What I meant by “it’s legit” was that Freddy (or the Internet) didn’t make it up, which was my initial thought. Aston Martin actually markets their products as being designed that way.

I might even go gay for this hunka-hunka golden ratio man.

You can draw arbitrary lines on anything and claim they were intentional or have meaning. Sorry, I’m feeling a little cynical in general.

but you could argue that the golden ratio exhibits itself in aesthetically appealing designs, whether intentionally or not.

But of course. Also, the Vantage IS a great looking car, regardless.

Take 10 minutes to read the wikipedia page on the subject: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio

I’ve read that a couple times over the years in addition to studying the Golden Ratio in grade school, various art classes, and college.
